Victor Wenbanyama will not face suspension, available for Game 5 against Wolves

After speculation surrounding his availability for Game 5, Victor Wembanyama has officially avoided further punishment from the NBA.

The league reviewed Wembanyama’s Flagrant 2 foul on Naz Reid during Game 4 between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves and elected not to issue a suspension.

The incident occurred with 8:40 left in the second quarter when Wembanyama grabbed a rebound over Nas Reid and then proceeded to rear back and elbow Reid in the face. Wembanyama was assessed a Flagrant 2 and automatically ejected from the contest. Despite the ejection, the NBA determined the play did not warrant additional disciplinary action.

That decision means the Spurs superstar will be available for a pivotal Game 5 as San Antonio looks to regain control of the series. Wembanyama’s presence is critical for the Spurs on both ends of the floor, as the 7-foot-4 phenom continues to anchor the team defensively while serving as one of its primary offensive weapons.

With the series tightening up, all eyes now shift to Game 5 as the Spurs attempt to respond after Minnesota evened the series in Game 4.
